Re: Just a Quick Thank You
Hello Niels and everyone,This is great to read "thank you" messages on the Contributors mailing list. Thank you for taking this initiative and share it publicly.A bit of additional context:A small team of people (4) have been paid by the OCA to work on the scripts on version 17 then 18 and the tasks in the scope are now finished. For your information we decided of a budget of 15 000 € per version and do the maximum in this budget. It looks like this budget was enough for those 2 versions. I know that the paid team actually worked more than the paid hours and that there are other people active on the OpenUpgrade repository who are not paid through this initiative. A big shout out to all of you!In order to fund version 19, it is on my todo-list to check our 2025 budget carefully to see if we can still make it in 2025.If people reading this want to make sure this happen, we are looking for more members and sponsors this year. This page explains where things are at and what we want to do next:The OCA internal team is currently working on a Funding campaign that will be launched after the OCA Days. Just a Quick Thank You
Hi everyone,
I hope it’s alright to use this channel to send a quick thank-you message.
I just wanted to take a moment to thank those who have been dedicating time and energy to the development of OpenUpgrade. I truly appreciate the effort and attention to detail that goes into this kind of work—even when much of it happens quietly behind the scenes (and I guess with a few cups of coffee involved).
I’m writing this because I feel the hard work behind the scenes can sometimes go unnoticed, and I thought it would be a good opportunity to say thanks here. I’ve been following the OpenUpgrade repo for a while and really appreciate the effort everyone is putting in—especially as I continue to learn myself. Your contributions are highly valuable—not only to me, but also to my/our customers and, I’m sure, the wider community.
No names mentioned here, but I hope everyone involved knows the appreciation is there — especially since it’s a relatively small, consistent group of people.
And if not, well... you’re still getting a virtual high-five! 🙌
So once again—a big thank you! Your work benefits all of us.

Virginie, just a remark: although OCA has contributed financially a bit for the last 2 versions, that only constitutes about 30%-40% of the work done on OpenUpgrade on those versions, as the paid initiative only covered a fraction of the Odoo modules. You mentioned already that, but without amounts, so it's important for the context IMO, specially for measuring the global costs.Regards.
