Request for Quotes: improvement of Odoo 18 + Github sync + new front-end (Odoo or not)
Hello Contributors,As you may know, we are currently launching 3 requests for quotes in order for the OCA to implement improved tools for our daily operation, get important data from the collaboration happening on Github in order to create a new, fresh and sexy front-end, showcasing our contributors, members and sponsors the best as possible.A few weeks ago, we launched the first RFQ regarding the migration of our Odoo database from v14 to v18. However, for practical usage in production in environment we have to rewrite the majority of the code1. To support remote mcp with http streaming2. Session management3 The current implementation of analysis tools needed to be optimised avoiding getting every single transaction which could easily blow up the context and in no time out of the token limit.
With the changes we have done it has provided every user to authenticated with their odoo account - From security perspective they are allowed to access only what has been provisioned in OdooWe have been testing with some of our customers in production and the users absolutely love it. I was also able to print a list of all female employees, which were identified by “typical female first names”, which is a valid approach.
I also asked to give me the highest sale order, which also returned the correct result.
Also writing to the Odoo database was working. When asking to answer the ticket with the id 22 (“What's the best kitchen cabinet varnish for your home?”) resulted in a reply on this ticket. But because my prompt was not very clear, I’ve got a perfect general answer on kitchen cabinet varnish. After asking Claude to take the available Products into account, there answer referenced the available products including prices, which would be a more likely expected answer to this question.
Tests with complex generic questions, like to create a financial report on the odoo data, failed because it did not fit into the Claude free plan.
Another downside of this solution is for sure the security. I’ve connected the MCP Server as admin/admin. Therefore the answer of the Ticket was also posted by the admin. When you integrate the MCP server into your company portal chatbot, it would be much better, when it would act as the current user and not with a service account to make sure that no information is leaked which the user does not have access to.

google_recaptchamodule doesn’t work for registrations of new users. we’ve just created a module for this very problem for one of our clients. here it is: https://github.com/OCA/server-auth/pull/809
it uses recaptcha v2 (keys to be configured in the website settings), which is based on a challenge presented to the user (while
google_recaptchauses recaptcha v3, which only returns a score and it’s up to the website owner to decide on the minimum acceptable score). the downside of recaptcha v2 is that it’s sometimes hard for humans to pass the challenge and that users train google’s ai models in exchange of the service.indeed, i think that cloudflare’s turnstile looks more promising in that regard and would thus be a better replacement, if someone feels up to the task.

We don't at this stage at a set of guidelines like you are asking for - I can put it on the to do list for some stage in the future.
I think if you make sure to link to the modules etc on the OCA app store or repositories then people will be led back to the creators, contributors etc as it stands.
I'll try to remember to keep you posted when we get some guidelines together.

I greatly appreciate the valuable contributions made by the OCA team through open-source Odoo modules. I am interested in creating tutorials, walkthroughs, and technical explanations based on these OCA apps to help the broader community understand and utilize them effectively.
Before I proceed, I would like to confirm whether there are any specific guidelines, rights, or permissions I should be aware of when using OCA modules for educational content. My intention is to contribute to the community by spreading awareness and knowledge while ensuring proper credit is given.

Odoo Community US (OCUS) Inaugural Meeting
We're pleased to announce the launch of the Odoo Community US (OCUS) with our inaugural meeting in New York City on June 29, 2025. This gathering marks the beginning of a new professional organization designed to connect and support Odoo users, developers, and implementation partners across the United States.
Event Overview:Be part of the official launch of Odoo Community US (OCUS), a new initiative dedicated to open-source collaboration, knowledge sharing, and community-driven development around Odoo.
This hybrid event will take place in New York City and will also be streamed live, making it easy to participate from anywhere. Whether you're a user, developer, or implementation partner, OCUS is your space to connect and contribute.
